Land availability figures suggested that a shortfall in housing was evident at Calne. PFA Consulting was commissioned initially to advise on access arrangements and then to support a planning application for around 350 dwellings as an urban extension. The planning application was refused; however, that decision was successfully appealed and the development is currently under construction.

PFA Consulting prepared a Transport Assessment and designed the site access junction and off site highway improvements, as well as contributing to the Masterplan and Design and Access Statement. PFA Consulting took part in the public consultation exercise and in detailed discussions concerning the requirements of the Section 106 Agreement. Following the refusal of the application, expert evidence was prepared addressing the transport reasons for refusal which was presented to the planning inquiry. PFA Consulting also prepared a Travel Plan to discharge a planning condition and is acting as Travel Plan Co-ordinator.
