Cotswold Water Park

The Cotswold Water Park has been identified for a range of tourism and leisure-related facilities utilising worked out gravel pits in the Upper Thames Valley. Sustainable ‘Lodge’ style dwellings are being constructed in phases throughout the Park.

PFA Consulting was appointed as part of a multi-disciplinary team to advise on highway, transport and infrastructure-related issues for a development of 140 lodges. The proposed development required an Environmental Impact Assessment due to the sensitive nature of the area.

Our work included undertaking surveys and assessing the traffic impact with particular emphasis placed on nearby settlements and the A419 trunk road, identifying accessibility improvements for the site, the preparation of preliminary designs for a new site access junction, the preparation of a Travel Plan, negotiations over planning obligations and devising utilities infrastructure provision to support the planning application. The application was taken to appeal and a Director produced evidence and appeared at the public inquiry as an expert witness on highways and traffic-related matters.
